Pumpkin Patch Disaster

So for the second year in a row we ended up in the ER after a visit to the pumpkin patch. I know, I know...it's just a pumpkin patch but apparently it can be dangerous too!

Last year while we were living in good ole AU we went to a pumpkin patch that had bouncy houses, tractor rides, petting zoo etc. Well we had done all the games we were going to play and we headed to the pumpkin patch area by hayride. Down by the pumpkin patch they had a barn with horses in it and Ava loves horses so we went in to look at them. Apparently one was a little skittish and after Ava stepped on the stool to get a better look, the horse knocked Ava in the head and right off the stool into the sawdust. This incident has now left her with a scar on her forehead and a story to tell. Mind you, I had not taken the pictures I had wanted to take and of course that opportunity passed. A bloody forehead and crying Ava does not make for good pictures. So off to the ER where I worked and one of the lovely NP's glued her head together!

Cut to this past weekend.  Charlie found a great place for us to go called Kackleberry Farms. It was about an hour away but had so much to do! It had a corn maze, petting zoo, corn box, zip lines, pony rides...you name it. We had already done a few things and had been there maybe an hour and a half and Charlie took Olivia back to the petting zoo area because she just loves her animals. The kid is fearless around them! Well, she decided she wanted to get closer to the goats so Charlie was pulling her away when he heard her wrist pop. So he brings her back crying to me and I so astutely notice she is not moving her right arm. She is crying, we still hadn't managed to get our pumpkins yet and it was hot. Again not a good combination. So now I am carrying her, convinced she has nursemaids elbow, to the pumpkin patch because we need a pumpkin, dangit! We picked out our pumpkin, Olivia was fine until I put her down to try and take a picture of her by the pumpkins...didn't work! Poor Ava, she still had hopes that we could stay longer but alas...we needed to go to the ER.

So we left the pumpkin patch and headed to the ER an hour away. Charlie was trying to convince me I was over reacting and we didn't need to go to the ER. So I demonstrated that she was still unable to move the arm by offering her a cracker which she accepted...with her left hand! She is not a lefty btw.  Charlie changes tactics at this point and is wanting me to fix her elbow. Yeah right....I might have seen it a bunch working in the ER but I was not about to do it myself! We finally make it there, sign in and walk right to a room. The peds doc comes in within minutes and fixes her and gives us our discharge paperwork. We weren't even registered yet! Thankfully she was fine and it only took 20 minutes from start to us walking out the door. Couldn't have asked for a faster visit!

Olivia is fine now. Once it popped back in she was able to move it just fine, kid is tough let me tell you! Of course it is more likely to happen again but hopefully it won't! We went home and ate hamburgers and off to bed the girls went.

Charlie swears we are not going to another pumpkin patch again. I might have to agree on this one! Enjoy the pictures!

 Olivia loved the goats!

 Looking at the sheep.

 Riding a tractor.

Getting directions in the corn maze.

 Little diva!

This is her smile for taking pictures now! What a ham!

 Ava in the corn maze.

 We made it!

 Olivia enjoying the swings.

She did pick up a little color...we had the sunroof open on way over...just a little pink!

Ava looking for the perfect pumpkin!

Stupid camera focused on the grass. Anyways my attempt to take a picture of Olivia by a pumpkin with her dislocated elbow. You can tell she isn't moving the right one. Poor baby! Headed to ER after this!

I read a book!

if you can imagine that! so last night the power went out around 530 (so much for dinner!) and didn't come back on for about 5 hours. it wasn't the best situation, but thankfully it wasn't hot out and I had enough candles to make it through. charlie was not home during any of this...really late night at work. so what was a girl to do once the kiddos were in bed? read! i haven't read a book in forever. i didn't even know what to read! or if i would have enough candles to see to read! so i picked a book that i bought from a second hand bookstore a year and a half ago (i know!) and i read that for a couple of hours until bedtime. it was called chasing harry winston by lauren weisberger. she wrote the devil wears prada and i enjoyed that so i figured this should be good. it didn't disappoint! it was a fast read, i finished it this afternoon during nap time/lunchtime. it was also fluffy and girly and sometimes you just need to read a good chick book! unfortunately i remember why i don't need to read alot...i tend to get so wrapped up in the book that i don't get anything done! oh well... i enjoyed it while it lasted!

happy reading everyone!

Sour milk explosion

Where do I even begin? It all started a couple of days ago. So we were driving home from Atlanta on Sunday and I wanted to stop somewhere on the way home for something to eat for me and the girls. Charlie stopped at McDonalds where Ava got a kids happy meal. For her drink we ordered her a milk. She told me she didn't want to drink it in the car because she didn't want to make a mess.

We finally make it home and she knows that she is supposed to clear everything of hers out of the car...which she started but then had to pee really bad. After that she must have forgot to get the rest of her stuff out of the car. Obviously.

Cut to today. I'm out cleaning/organizing the garage and I was putting the stroller back in my car. I noticed a milk cap in the back which I thought was odd, so I leaned in to get it and noticed the stink. I had a horrible thought dawn on me and I looked up. Yep. There it was. Dried sour milk on the ceiling of my car. All over. Little drops here, little drops there. On the doors, seats...no where was safe. Nasty dried sour milk. I thought I smelled something funny when I took the stroller out of the car this morning. It must have been before the milk jug exploded.

Needless to say I'm still working on getting all of it out of the car but it is a slow, stinky process.

Ahhh...the joys of having kids.

It looks like someone threw up on the ceiling. Nasty.

Jetta's Checkup

So we had another visit to the vet. It was just to get more vaccinations. Fun. Thankfully they are great at what they do and we are in and out in less than an hour, which is more than I can say for my doctor. Anyways...I digress. So Jetta is doing real well in all respects. She has doubled her weight in the 6 weeks we have had her. She is now 12 weeks old and 17lbs.  She is doing real well potty training (minus today...when I am busy in the kitchen I can't always see when she is waiting by the door to go out.) and she also is great with Olivia. Olivia is good with her too. She does like to sit on her which Jetta is not fond of but she also likes to give her kisses...as in the open mouth kind and Jetta will gladly lick her tongue. I know its gross...funny too though! We are still working with Ava, she is still unsure of how to handle her a majority of the time.  Baby steps. Overall she is a great dog and we love our Jetta Betta!

Olivia hamming it up at the vet.

Attempting to catch the open mouth kiss and the vets office today. :)

Mistletoe State Park

So this past weekend we loaded everybody up and went to a local state park. It was about 30 minutes from our house so it wasn't too bad of a drive. It was a beautiful park and had lots of walking trails, beaches, campsites, boat docks, picnic areas etc.

We started off by taking a hike in the woods. I was kind of skeptical that Olivia would be able to walk that far but she actually surprised me! Granted, she kept trying to pick up the pine straw/dirt and would trip over every tree root and wanted to wander off the beaten path, but other than that she did awesome!

Jetta loved it. Charlie let her off the leash after a little bit and it was awesome to see her get to run around and jump like she was. She doesn't really get to do that at our house so I'm pretty sure she enjoyed herself.

Ava was our leader, she did a better job on the way out than back but she had fun. She was mad she forgot her bird book and binoculars but I have a feeling we will be back soon. She is very excited to go back and do some camping and swimming there.

Charlie has now become all enthused to go camping again. After we got home he was on the computer for hours I swear looking up camping gear. He thinks we won't all fit in our tent and we need to get a bigger one! We'll see!

All the campsites were really nice too. They have around 90+ sites to choose from and many are located right on the lake. All of the come equipped with picnic tables and poles to hang garbage/lights as well. Only a handful don't have water/electricity, we probably would get one without because those were probably the best sites and the you couldn't see the camping sites next to you!

All in all it was an enjoyable day at Mistletoe State Park and everyone had a blast. Jetta and Olivia both napped on the way home! We can't wait for more adventures there!

I could not get her and the camera to cooperate while taking pictures so this is the only one I had of her face! On our hike!

 My little hiker!

After Olivia got tired Daddy gave her a lift!

Ava enjoying our hike!

15 month checkup!

Olivia had her 15 month checkup today. I can't believe she is already 15 months! Seems like just the other day I was planning her first birthday! Anyways, she did great! Right before the doctor came in she shut her finger in one of the cabinets in the room and was crying when he walked in. After that she was real quiet and didn't fuss at all! Well, until her shots anyways!

So here are her stats:
Weight: 22 lbs even
Height: 31 in. tall
Head: 18 in.

She received her MMR vaccine and the flu vaccine. She didn't like those at all. When she was younger she would stop crying almost immediately, today she did not. She was pitiful. Hopefully her nap will make her feel better!

She is right on track developmentally and in general is the epitome of health! Love my baby! :)

 At the doctors office!

Waiting for her shots!

Fun day Monday

Well...not really. I decided that I needed to get a lot of stuff done yesterday, some of which was not fun at all! I figured Mondays are generally not fun anyways so may as well do not fun things and get them out of the way! So my day yesterday in a nutshell:

-Get up and get Ava off to school. Not always easy, she is not a morning person.
-Feed Olivia.
-Feed Charlie. (He was late for work but shhhh don't tell)
-Walk the dog and Olivia. This wasn't bad.
-Clean downstairs floors. That meant I had to pick up stuff(toys) while my toddler was still playing with       them so she kept putting them back on the floor. Not easy to vacuum that way. Swiffer vacuumed the hardwoods. Love that thing btw! It sucks up bigger things and gets all the small dirt in the disposable pad! Jetta hates this thing, she chased me around and kept running into barking. Doesn't make for easy cleaning either.
-Laundry
-Olivia went down for a nap.
-Mommy went out to mow the yard. I didn't get to it this weekend so had to do it yesterday.
-relax
-Olivia is awake from nap so now it is lunch time. Feeding times in this house are really long due to Olivia playing with her food, pulling it out of her mouth and putting it back in, feeding it to the dog etc.
-Showering while watching Olivia, she's gotten better. She no longer screams when I am in the shower...makes it a little more enjoyable.
-Dusting
-Cleaning the kitchen. I despise this. I love a clean kitchen...hate the process to get it clean. That meant I had to wash a lot by hand. Of course I had my little helper Olivia trying to unload the dirty dishes. Always fun!
-Ava got home from school. She did her homework and I put her in charge of some chores.
-More laundry.
-Played with Olivia and Jetta.
-Started dinner.
-Made cinnamon swirl bread. Which btw was totally awesome. I was a little paranoid making it. Just ask my mom. The minute I heard the timer beep I hung up on her to add my cinnamon and sugar for the swirl. I thought it was never going to beep.
-Reheated Charlies dinner.
-Made brownies.
-Made Charlies lunch.
-Watch tv.
-SLEEP!

Needless to say I was exhausted. I didn't get everything done that I wanted. I'm trying to work on those today. Need to clean bathrooms and I did manage to vacuum 2 rooms upstairs. 2 more to go. Ahhh...but I did enjoy my bread some more today. Maybe next time I will sprinkle some more cinnamon and sugar on top. That would be so yummy!

Happy Tuesday!
